vivo V23 receives Android 14 update
Back in October, vivo published a list of its devices that were eligible to receive the update to Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14. The V23 was right there, slated to get its tasty treat from mid-March 2024.
Well, guess what? It’s mid-March 2024, and the update is now rolling out, right on schedule. Please do note it arrives over-the-air as a whopping 5.5GB download, so make sure you have enough room for it before you start the process.
Once you’ve installed the update, your V23 will be on build PD2167DF_EX_A_14.2.10.3.W30. You’re also getting the March 1, 2024 security patch level.
The changelog for the update is extensive, as you’d expect. It includes improvements to the lock screen clock (with added customization options), Albums (with new video editing tools and filters), Small Windows (more convenient dragging, a new Mini Small Window mode, and the ability to open Small Windows in split-screen mode), Always On Display (more apps selectable for notifications), Control Center (brand new design, optimized for landscape mode), Security & privacy (added support for some system and Google apps in App hiding), Widgets (new ones and One-tap addition), Home screen (a new color palette and new functionality), Status bar and notifications (two battery icon styles added), and Multimedia (per-app volume control, optimized volume panel visuals, optimized Quick pairing and audio switching).
Additionally, the preview experience of multi-image or text and image links has been optimized, as has system memory use. Of course the usual unnamed bug fixes should be in too. As always, this rollout could be going out in stages, which means that if you have a V23 and it hasn’t yet notified you about the update, that should happen at some point within the next few days. The important thing is that the ball’s rolling now.
